Kildare part two

What a glorious day! We didn't know then that this was the beginning of an extended spell of lovely weather, but it sure started well. After breakfast in the Firecastle café we sat outside in the sun soaking up the wonderful small-town atmosphere. What a terrific contrast to the sorry state of Dublin city centre these days. It was really relaxing just watching life go by. After a bit we gathered ourselves together and "did" St Brigid's cathedral. An organised tour group was being shown around but we just did our own thing before settling down again outside another café/restaurant outside the gate. A leisurely and relaxing and super enjoyable hour or so passed there and then we moved on towards home.

We stopped off at Kildare Village on the way. What a place! We've been down in the general area a couple of times before for meals, but this was the first time at the Village itself. It's basically a huge shopping mall in a H-shaped arrangement of 'streets'. The units (and there are lots of them) are predominantly geared towards high-end fashion, with just a sprinkling of food outlets. It's really well done and it was all too easy to spend two hours or so wandering around. Maybe we'll rob a bank and go back some time to buy some stuff. Maybe.
