My day

Albany

We started the day having a look around Albany, Emu Point and Middleton Beach. Then after brunch we went back up the hill where we were yesterday to see the other lookout which we had seen years ago on our previous visit to town. There were lots of steps which we took slowly. My back discomfort continues but is ok if I take it easy.

The main shows the memorial that was originally in Egypt but damaged in one of the skirmishes there and was bought to Australia. It remembers those who fought in the 1916-1918 mounted forces in Egypt, Palestine and Syria. They used horses and camels. It is in Albany overlooking the harbour where the men and horses left and was the last sight many of them had of Australia.

The building chimney is The Farm at Strawberry Hills which is a National Trust Property (first farm in WA). The others were taken at the caravan park, the river is the Kalgan and the kangaroos are on the golf course.
