I had a message from my dear friend Liz Brooke-Ward mentioning she was exhibiting at Lansdown Hall and Gallery, featuring her textile work based on the inspiration invoked by 18th century German explorer and artist, Maria Sibylla Merian. She started this series a couple of years ago and I obliquely helped her research in finding a map of the Surinam region of South America, facilitated by fellow blipper, Ellaphant, herself a Dutch citizen.

I’ve aded an ‘Extra’ of the main card beside the mapped region on the right, which gives some background to Liz’s work, as well as a closer image of that piece.

Do have a look at Liz’s website or if you are nearby visit ‘Nature in Art’ museum in Twigworth, near Gloucester, where she will be the artist in residence between 27th June and 2nd July 2023
