Ramsgate

We were thinking about going to Ramsgate after breakfast today, so when an email popped in from two friends in Ramsgate asking if they were going to see us, the decision was made.  I got in touch and we agreed to meet for lunch. They also said we could park in their driveway, which was great.  We duly arrived at their place, parked the car and set off to wander around the town.  Quite a bit has changed since we left - the old Victorian pavilion has been taken over by Wetherspoons, refurbished and now is a huge two-storey pub with an outdoor terrace overlooking the sea.  It didn’t appeal to us, but it’s obviously very popular.  A huge apartment development called Royal Sands has been built along the seafront and dominates the beach.  That’s very popular as well and I think only Phase Four is now available.  There are empty shops, some shops are still there, others have disappeared and been replaced by new tenants.  Having investigated the town, we returned to our friends’ house and the five of us set off to find somewhere to have lunch.  We decided on The Falstaff pub, ordered our meals and sat out in the peaceful garden to enjoy them.  There was a lot to catch up on, as usual, so we spent a pleasant couple of hours in the sunshine.  We walked back to our friends’ place, said our farewells and set off for Westgate.  The boys went off for a pint, I tried to catch up on some emails and D prepared supper.  When that was ready, only needing to be reheated, she and I walked along to The Swan to join the boys for a drink.  We enjoyed our drink then returned home to have supper.  Before we knew it, it was time for bed.
