a lifetime burning

Honey bee

Its another warm one here - and the bees have been busy this morning.

I managed to see the end of a common darter emergence at the pond, although the female was fully emerged at that point and just drying off in the sunshine.  I grabbed a few quick shots, (one of which is the extra) and just as I was moving to a better position to be able to see her properly she fluttered off into the bushes to finish off the process.  Its been quite a year for the dragonflies - I don't think we've ever had so many emerge.
