Well I was left with the task of babysitting everyone all day today, in London. For Dad's birthday he and Mum were going to Ascot with some friends. Overall nobody really quite died, so I'd say that's a success on my part.
We went out for quite a day. Hugh bought a bottle of prime for 25 pounds before finding it for sale in a different shop for 8 pounds. We had a procession of royal horses go right by us which was actually quite interesting especially as we went to the Royal Mews after that. We saw the Victoria Memorial but got some interesting looks from a few people when Henry and Jane excited said 'Look at the big mouse!'
We tried to walk through Hyde Park to see the Diana Memorial Playground but we were always destined to fail. It was hot and Jane had already fallen off her scooter when she randomly sped up, crashing into Henry making him fall over as well. It was a huge walk already but to top it off, Pink was performing in the middle of Hyde Park as well so everything was either walled off or absolutely swarming with crowds. About 300 meters into the park I just gave up so we bought ice creams (I got a very nice croissant) and left.
We managed to entertain ourselves alright at home by playing various pen and paper games since there is a strange lack of board games at this place. Jane entertained herself by eating rice bubbles everywhere possible, and unfortunately this time I was the one who had to go around with the dust pan and brush after her :*(
It was a nice day with everybody despite all of the chaos, and like I said, WE DIDN'T DIE. I am very happy about that.
