Nymans

Today we had a day off from our walking so Martin and I visited NT Nymans House and Gardens. The gardens were stunning.My blip shows the rose garden (plus honeysuckle). The extra is of Cornus kousa "Satomi".
There was also a recently renewed  rock garden which should  look marvellous in a year or two.  
 The estate was owned and developed by the Messel family through several generations before the NT took it over. The house suffered a major fire in 1947 and was never fully rebuilt, with the ruined part now home to another small  sheltered garden.
