An ordinary life....

Sunrise on Lola's birthday...

I woke up at 4.25am, noticed there wasn't any sunlight sneaking around the side of the blinds and realised the sun hadn't risen yet.  Checked my phone for sunrise - 4.45am.  Great, time to pop to the loo, get my camera, open the blinds and glass door and position myself outside to await the yellow ball.

What a beautiful morning, so still and the birds singing and this amazing spectacle unfolding before me.  An amazing few minutes.

By 5am the field of barley was glowing (see extra).  It's mesmerising watching the breeze ripple through the crop.  Like watching the sea.  I was back in bed by 5.30and slept till 8am.

Before we headed off to Weymouth D texted R to ask him to wish Lola Happy Birthday and give her birthday cuddles from us.  She is 6 today.  We are missing her so much!  (A house further along the lane has a black Labrador and we've been stealing cuddles from him to help our pining for her) R texted back the photo and message in extra.  Made us laugh out loud.  Lola with her serious posing face on and Biscuit looking equally unimpressed at having to pose!  hahahahahaha!

And so to Weymouth we went.  Oh dear, not the best of days!  Again couldn't get into the multi-storey car parks due to roof box and on street parking near the sea was impossible.  So busy.  We drove around for ages before finding ourselves at Nothe Fort.  A fascinating place but not ideal for me (plus the lift is out of commission for the whole of June)  but it had a cafe and a loo and that was what we were looking for.

We both had tasty paninis then some coffee and cake then headed back in to the town centre after locating a large car park right at the front without a height restriction.  When we got there we realised that if we'd turned right instead of left when we arrived at the sea front, we would have seen this car park and the very lovely cafe beside it.  Oh well, c;est la vie!

Got parked no problem then went for a wander along the long promenade.  It's been so long since I've visited a typical British seaside town.  We of course had to get ice cream as we wandered along.  We were really impressed at how clean and tidy the place is.  Lots of bins along the prom, as well as lots of lovely flower beds.  Sadly there was no point in exploring all the little shops up the side streets as they were all closing.

Popped into the M&S food hall and bought some chicken drumsticks and salad for dinner, then back to the car and home.

Did something I haven't done for ages and gave myself a manicure.  Socialising tomorrow so better make an effort.

Can't. believe we only have three days left before heading home on Friday.
