a lifetime burning

Common Darter

This female common darter has emerged earlier this morning.  If you look, you will see a blurry dark shape to the right of and behind her head: her outgrown and now surplus exuvia.

She's now ready to fly, but was prepared to tolerate me getting really quite close with the macro lens, which surprised me somewhat.  If you look large you should just be able to see her eye facets.

Somehow the processing exercise has lost the EXIF data on this occasion (it seems to happen very occasionally and I'm not sure why).  The details are:

Nikon Z 8
105mm
1/640s
F/11 (+1.0 exposure compensation as the subject had the light behind her)
ISO1600

Dad died back in mid-march, but today we are finally able to inter his ashes with Mum's in their plot in the local cemetery.   It will be good to get that element concluded at last, it seems to have been taking forever.  That still leaves the installation of the updated headstone and the general updating of the plot but those works won't be finished for another 3 months.  Still, I don't expect either Mum or Dad will be worrying about the lack of headstone in the interim period, so I shan't be either.
