Life's Little Moments

Are they EVER going to leave?

I think that must be what the chickadee parents are thinking right now. By my estimation, the kids are 17 days old which puts them at exactly the right time to be fledging. Or perhaps they've decided that they've got it good and aren't going anywhere. After all, Mom and Dad are hauling in big tasty green treats like this - what's not to love? Actually mom and dad are now sitting outside the nest box a lot and calling - a sure sign that the babies will fledge any day now.

Hubs and I drove down to the Audubon center today and bought a bunch of native plants to put in our new garden patch. We had to put down a bunch of bark and mulch today, though, and didn't get any of the planing done. Temps were in the low 90's and it was just too damned hot in the sun.

Had some sad news from my mom today about her sister. So this is a special note to my mom - love you tons, Mom, and sending you a huge hug.
