Now, as I see it......

The Kateraktis

Another day away from the beach.  We walked up to the Museum which is fairly high up in the old town.  We've been before and once stayed in accommodation nearby but if you were a first time visitor it would be very difficult to find up lots of steps and winding lanes, even with the meagre signage pointing the way.

After our visit we decided to walk down the Kateraktis to the harbour.  It's the old way down which was built out of sight of the sea so that potential raiders could not see it.  To get to it, you have to climb even higher through the narrow lanes (see a couple of examples in the extra) and even though we've done it many times before we always get a little lost.  We ended up doing a bit of a detour but eventually found it after asking a local lady which direction to take.  The picture is the top of it; you can make out the sloping steps just below and to the left of the house in the thumbnail.

Very hot and dusty and I got bitten by something on my wrist which drew a bit of blood and has now swollen up slightly.  That beer when we got down to the harbour didn't touch the sides!
