Bet you’re singing that now (if you know the song :-) It’s been haunting me the whole week as I painted this slate tile for our friends Alan and Gail’s garden!

What a great night we’ve had at theirs.

Gail is an amazing hostess and invited all of the golfing gang and their wives for dinner so all together there were 13 of us (three couldn’t make it) Of course the men see each other regularly but us wives, although we get together in smaller groups, rarely all get together at the same time so it was a lovely catch up.

One couple who were there, N & AN have an interesting claim to fame. Their little holiday cottage on the east coast (it was AN’s family home as a child) is the cottage used in the Harry Styles video Adore You. Fascinating (and hilarious :-)) to hear about that experience. During the filming AN literally bumped into Harry in his underpants in the cottage! He thanked her for letting it feature in the video! Lol They still get fans appearing asking to take photos and last year an American mum and her daughter and daughter’s friend arrived. N and AN were sitting in the garden when the mum asked if this was THE cottage. N said yes and apparently the two young girls were absolutely hyper :-))

So, lots of chat, lots of laughter and lots of amazing food! A huge, and I mean huge dish of antipasti nibbles on arrival, with crisps, nuts and the most delicious homemade guacamole. Then later a feast of a buffet including Asian salmon, filo pastry chicken pie, goats cheese and red onion quiche, three salad platters (all different!) sweet potato wedges, coleslaw, couscous, quinoa…I could go on! Amazing!

David’s eyes were on stalks when dessert was served. Again, all homemade…nectarine and amaretto pavlova, strawberries and cream roulade, New York cheesecake and a huge cheeseboard.

I don’t know how she does it! Feeding a crowd with top restaurant quality food whilst looking serene, glamorous and unfazed by the whole thing! That said she is the most organised person I know when it comes to entertaining and nothing would have been left to the last minute. I

I have asked her for the recipes for everything!! :-)))
