Morning Shadows

It was a long, restless night due to our daughter's travel schedule in Europe, she was once again switching cities and we hadn't heard from her by the time we retired. We told ourselves, repeatedly, she was fine, that she arrived late and hadn't yet had a chance to connect to the internet, but rational conversation makes little difference at 2:30 in the morning when your mind is full nothing but horrible thoughts. By the time we checked early this morning, she had left a message she was fine and I was finally able to sleep without waking every 15 minutes.

Usually we are on our patio, with the curtains open, by the time the sun comes up, but this morning I was still struggling to get out of bed at that time. I decided the least I could do was to record the early morning patterns on the curtains as a reminder of a sleepless night.
