Fawn

I saw a fawn crossing the path in the park this morning which let me know I should look for the family. Such a tiny little thing. In this picture you can see mom on the left. 

The volcano is erupting in Iceland. Oregon and Washington have a lot that Iceland has:  cliffs, ocean, lupines, puffins, seafood. No volcanos, sometimes northern lights. Thursday the kp index will be sooo high even Maryland might see them - except that it will probably be cloudy.

Earlier today there was an article that Congress was going to reject selling some fighter planes to Turkey unless they let Sweden into NATO. This afternoon Turkey announced they would let Sweden into NATO. There is one more country blocking it but Hungary suggested earlier that they might approve if Turkey did. 

Iga Swiatek is a Polish tennis player at Wimbledon who has been speaking up for Ukraine and organized a charity exhibition last summer. Ukrainian tennis player Eloína Svitolina will be playing her soon. They are friends. Eloína had to give up Harry Styles tickets to make it to Wimbledon. She just beat a Belarus player. Harry Styles is on tour and invited her to any of his remaining four shows.

In December two botany professors arrived at Kherson State University. They came to rescue the Kherson herbarium, a collection of 32,000 plants, lichen, mosses, and fungi, collected over a century by scientists across Ukraine. It took crazy planning and bureaucracy but they got them out by January 4. 

Ukraine has begun construction of a Bayraktar drone manufacturing plant.
