Making Butterflies

I had booked us in to Eureka today thinking it would be quiet during term time and full of small people, Rozalie's age.  As a retired teacher you would have thought I'd remembered that the week or so before summer break was put over to fun trips, so part way around the first adventure we were surrounded by excited, very noisy primary schoolchildren!  The Museum is a vast space and very echoey so it wasn't an easy excursion, but Rozalie seemed to enjoy having lots of children around  and was busy pushing buttons.

One of her favourite activities was this clever colouring machine.  She coloured in a butterfly on screen and then pressed the 'fly away' button so that it flew out of her machine and on to the screen on the wall, where it flittered with all the other butterflies made.  She loved this.

When we had lunched, spent a short while in the interactive room, it was clear she was fading fast so it was in to the stroller where she promptly fell asleep and we walked up to the Piece Hall and found a cafe for another cuppa.  Tomas and Marketa shared a huge plate of pancakes drenched in maple syrup, cream and fruit with ice cream on the side!

As our car is too small to accommodate four adults and a child seat, I said goodbye and went in search of the bus stop home.  I discovered Illingworth on this bus trip as we diverted from the main road through it.  Illingworth was my Grandad Joe's surname and my Mum's surname prior to marriage.
