A Day Worth Recording

Capping the Petunia

The third stone cap to adorn the left hand pillar during our ownership goes into place.

The first was the 'original'.  We don't actually know whether it was the original, but given how easy it has proved for vehicles to clout it , it would seem unlikely.

That pillar was knocked around by the scaffolders and repaired, but then a small Waitrose van felled the lot.

The new one got nudged by another van, and repaired, but was more recently beheaded by an Asda van who was just using our driveway to turn round. (Driver didn't stop, and beware, Asda's claim handlers are not a pleasant experience).

We've not wasted the damaged ones.  It may be a bit quirky (us? surely not) but the growing collection now marks the top of the path down into the garden.

Extra picture of the crane in use - something of a vintage piece of kit but still very capable.

Curiously enough, the only thing that went through the mind of the bowl of petunias as it fell was 'Oh no, not again'.
