Gypsum Sink Holes

We took the Bergbahn Oberlech cable car and then the Petersbodenbahn chair lift to our starting point.

I went in search of orchids today while my other half scaled a mountain. He climbed to the top of Mohnenfluh and I walked through the Gipslocher nature reserve.

There are meant to be 10 types of orchids in the reserve, along with countless other wildflowers. It was stunning. The gypsum sink holes were formed around 220 million years ago and provide unique microclimates for the plants. A really fascinating place to visit.

Again it was very hot.
