An away day with Jan

I walked Indie early this morning, getting back to Chudleigh for 9am pick up from Jan. We were off to Somerset on a wildlife adventure, visiting Shapwick Moor, Avalon Visitor centre for a pitstop then walked Ham Wall. Not much avian activity  but plenty of butterflies.
Slightly disappointed, we then made our way across to Steart Marshes planning to observe  wading birds on the shore  as Jan had check tide timetables for the incoming tides. Nada!  Steart Marshes is a short distance away from Hinkley Point C nuclear power station which is currently under construction.
A total wasted journey, so we stopped off to grab a sandwich & coffee at Asda in Bridgewater before driving back down the M5, hanging a left, visiting Otterton to see if we could spot beaver on the river. Yay!!! A beautiful summers evening, bellringing practice away in the distance, we got 3 Kingfisher sightings, as they zoomed up the river. Walked the stretch of river where the  set is situated, then downstream, again nothing, but on the way back along the riverbank, I first spotted a beaver emerge from the side of the set,  then spotted this one doing a bit sprucing up.
A great day out with our cameras even if the wildlife sightings were disappointing.
