Breakfast

(21/7/23)

Today has been a day of taxi rides! I thought it would be cheaper to do short taxi rides than hire a car, but we ended up doing so many it would have been better to have rented a car for the day.

I went into the office as usual for a Wednesday. One of my colleagues (sitting opposite me in the picture) bought the team breakfast from Costa. With so many people on holiday, there were just eight of us.

Work day done, G & I got to the SA meeting, guitar and all, to do three songs for the service. Miriam asked us to join her for dinner in Chinatown so we were counting on the meeting finishing on time. Unfortunately, today, of all days, it didn't. Two people stood up to give their testimonies, which were great to hear, but long.

We met up with Miriam thirty minutes later than scheduled and enjoyed delicious food and chatter. We talked so much that we noticed it had gone significantly quiet. It was nearly midnight!! Yikes! We raced to the nearest taxi rank, G & me noting we had never seen the shops with their shutters down before!

Getting a taxi proved more of a challenge than expected, especially lugging a heavy guitar. We finally got into one who brought us back the longest way imaginable, telling us it was because of the exit he had to use. Honestly, talk about being environmentally friendly - not! We were so glad to be home after a non-stop day.

I did hear from the garage, but only that the car wasn't seen until the afternoon. They are so busy.
