Life in Sunny Dubai

Celebrating

It is a public holiday today on account of the Islamic New Year, which was on Tuesday. It's come at just the right time. It's felt like such a trying week, I really needed to crash and catch up on sleep, so not much was done in the morning.

I tried to be more productive in the afternoon, setting a target to move across to the new laptop so G can have one that runs a bit faster. I didn't get very far. You can't connect two laptops and expect them to talk to each other. You need software - paid, of course. I decided a 256GB USB stick might be the answer, especially as they have dropped so much in price. Whilst on the Amazon site, we have finally ordered a CO2-creating machine. That should drastically decrease the plastic we use for sparkling water.

We headed to the Sol Sky Bar. Our local Uber equivalent (Careem) gave us a discount code for 30% off two rides on Friday. How considerate! On the back of an email received from Cyprus, we had much to celebrate tonight, so the fact that we could order off the entire cocktails menu (rather than choose from just five), we both chose an Aperol Spritz. This was followed by a Mai Tai, with a meal in between.

It was noticeably less hazy and humid this evening, so we sat outside for a while, enjoying the LED-lit boats/dhows on the Creek. And now, the weekend begins!
