Wemyss Bay station

Jumping off point for thousands of trippers from Glasgow to the Isle of Bute, sadly few people make the trip by train nowadays but the station is being well cared for.

Finally made it to Bute, now sitting in the window of our B&B overlooking Rothesay Bay and the mainland across the water. The town is much quieter that I expected and a little run down. The extra is a collage from the 4 windows in our room.

I fondly imagined a sunny trip across to Bute with sunlight dancing off the waves and glorious scenery on all sides. What we got, and what is more usual, was a dank morning that followed on from a wet night. We did see a porpoise arching through the water.

We did go for a walk after dinner last night, in the rain and the wind. We didn’t expect very much and were surprised by how the waterfront at Greenock is being improved.

The hunt for low carb food is proving entertaining. Last night’s dinner was a cob salad with char grilled chicken. Today’s dinner was vegetable lasagne with a side salad. Burgers and chips rule OK.
