Marjorie's ramblings

By walkingMarj

18 years old today

This is Khrystyna Mykhailichenko, a wonderful pianist from Ukraine. She came here with her family to escape the war and has had the opportunity to continue with her music. She has now been awarded a full bursary to study at the Royal Academy of Music for 4 years.

This weekend she is helping at the Corbridge Chamber Music Festival, but on Monday night she will be performing in Corbridge with another young pianist, Cristo Harijan, from Hexham. He has just finished his undergraduate studies at the Royal Northern School of Music in Manchester.

K celebrated her 18th birthday today, but needed a little persuasion to be photographed!

The concerts today were again sublime. I stayed for most of the late night concert, Bach and Beyond. That was enormous fun, with a number of musicians playing solos. Flo Plane even played a piece for electric bassoon (not for the faint hearted)!

This morning, Tim and Maureen, who help to run the festival, came to see Mum.
