Life in Sunny Dubai

Inclement weather

(6/8/23)

The day began with the doorbell ringing at what I thought was really early. It was 8:30. I thought, that's Amazon, and they've brought G's milky oolong tea leaves, but no, it was the water delivery man! Argh! I message them to let them know when I need a delivery. They must have a new team because they keep contacting me every week, assuming I need a new bottle. Poor guy had carried the 5-gallon bottle up to the flat. I hope he remembers for next time. I went back to bed only to have the doorbell ring again - this time, it was Amazon. G is thrilled with her new tea leaves.

I had booked us in for a pedicure (for G) and a massage (for me), so we had to leave home pretty promptly. All fine there. We popped into a tailoring shop adjacent to the salon. It is a branch of one of the first tailoring shops established in the 60s! I need new trousers and wanted to enquire about fabrics, price etc.

We had a relaxed day at home, with me finally finishing a video I started two weeks ago. It suddenly became noticeably dark, and I joked that it would rain. It wasn't forecast, and all the weather apps said, "Fine and sunny". Well, about fifteen minutes later, we had a deluge. G looked up the weather and reckons it has something to do with unusual solar activity three days ago.

We had to go out again - this time to one of the newer areas of Dubai. G's blood tests suggest she needs to see a specialist, and the nearest one we found was thirty minutes away. We got to the clinic to find that the lady who arranged the booking chose a different doctor from the one I asked for, so we rescheduled.

We came home via Festival City, which was heaving. Ugh. We avoid malls during the weekend and soon remembered that the policy needs to be upheld.
