A Tangle of Vines

A frosty start can be tolerated when it is followed by a cold, crisp, clear winter's day. The sun shines and the day seems somehow more cheerful.
This morning the Richmond Range was standing out in brilliant shades of blue. The highest peak in this image is Mount Riley... well known now as a prestigious wine label.
There is a tangle of vines in the foreground of this image. The vines are on Meadowbank Station and I have photographed them before, earlier in the year. The Pinot Gris grapes grown on them is supplied to the Spy Valley winery .
Pruning has not yet commenced in these vineyards. It has been completed just across the river in Turnbulls' vineyards. The vines look quite naked there, each pruned back to about three branches.
I will capture the Meadowbank vines again once they have been pruned . The change in their appearance, and indeed the landscape will be quite dramatic...so watch this space....
