Excitement

The two pieces of furniture that we purchased yesterday were delivered this morning.  The dressing table-type piece went into the garage as it requires some work, but the wardrobe went into the second bedroom.  I’m glad we didn’t have to get it in there as it was heavy and a little bit tricky.  It’s perfect for the room.

After the furniture delivery we decided to walk to the Whitestone Cheese shop and were pleasantly surprised that it’s possible to have lunch there as well as purchase cheese and one or two nice gifts.  We bought some cheese and will definitely return for lunch one day.

Three times today one of the little birds has flown into a glass pane in the French door of the dining room.  The first time was this morning and after a few minutes the little bird flew off.  The second time was this afternoon and I think it was quite a hard crash as the wee bird lay on the deck for ages, then sat up for ages.  You could just about hear him thinking “what on earth happened?”.  I felt really upset for him as he was obviously trying to pull himself together but eventually, after a long time, he flew off.  Then it happened again, but this time it was obviously just a quick hit as the wee bird flew off almost straight away.  We’re not sure what’s causing these crashes and will try to work it out tomorrow as it’s too upsetting to see the little birds in distress.

We called into Mitre10 on our way home from the Whitestone Cheese Shop as I thought I’d seen something there that would serve a purpose, but I was mistaken.  On the way out of the store we made a donation to the Daffodil Day stand in return for which I was given five daffodils - see blip.

MrMacD spent the afternoon in the garden, I cleaned up after lunch and MrMacD’s morning of cooking sourdough bread.  That done I made a mixture of water and meths and used it to clean the mirrors and also the kitchen windows.  I wish I’d known about it years ago because it worked a treat - no smears!

Our work done we decided to walk back into town for a drink and then, of course, we decided to stay and have a meal.  Afterwards we had to walk back up the hill in the dark, which we don’t mind.  As a result of our two walks today we covered 11kms.

I took a photo of the wardrobe in situ next to the bedroom door; the Art Deco mirror in the internal hallway; the daffodils; and two views of the sunset as we walked into town.
