Nicky and her Nikon

Goodbye South Africa

We had a delicious BBQ last night with all the family. We left early to go pack while the rest of the family watched the rugby match of SA vs All Blacks and they were very pleased with the historic win of SA beating the All Blacks by 35 - 7.

This morning we were up early, finished our packing and then went for our last walk on the promenade. I took this photo of the lighthouse on the walk.

The family all joined us at the hotel for breakfast, which was a feast! They serve absolutely everything including champagne and oysters for breakfast. The breakfasts are very popular here, in fact this hotel is very popular and is always busy which is good to see. Their afternoon teas are legendary as they offer such an enormous choice of cakes. It’s a very old fashioned colonial style hotel with overhead fans everywhere and lots of rattan and colourful fabrics.

It was so sad to say goodbye to my family, and there were tears as always. It was awful driving off to the airport not knowing when I will see them again. We flew from Durban to Cape Town and now are sitting in the lounge at Cape Town airport waiting to board our 18.40 flight to London.

It has been the most special and wonderful holiday, the best we have ever had - many memories have been made and we are all so sad it is over. We all anticipated this holiday for so long and now it is over!

I am looking forward to seeing Xena who has been very well looked after by Fiona in our absence.

Thank you so much for continuing to read my journal and awarding stars and hearts when I have been unable to respond or look at journals regularly. It has been busy and I have had less down time than anticipated.
