Summer's end

It really is! Finally, steady drumming rain for several of the small hours, and this morning it was about 20 degrees cooler than yesterday morning. Even I baulked at going to the pool (and it has been as warm as soup the last few days, over 30C).

Sadly, it is also the day of the last village meal. Early on, we learned, not to our surprise, that it was not going to happen outdoors. But the village hall was booked for another event, so it couldn't happen there either :( We were instructed to fetch our food and take it home to eat. Some hardy souls determinedly wrapped up in anoraks, fleeces, and hats, and sat outside anyway. We set the table at home and invited S and T to come and eat chez nous.

It was a shame to miss out on the convivial company that is normally a feature of these lunches, but we had a good time eating, drinking, and chatting. Evidence: the formerly clean tablecloth I put on the table only yesterday (extra, post lunch). Once S & T had left, S had a Zoom intercambio with our imminent catsitter M, and  I tidied up and then pretty much lounged around for the rest of the afternoon. More rain and cool weather is forecast: with all the windows open, the indoor temperature has dropped dramatically too.
