Take It Easy

The rain has stopped thankfully.  Although TT tried to persuade me to run with him again today, we ran separately.  There were no cows, mud or wet feet for me.  TT had all of these.  It was grey and very humid which made for hard work on the hilly section of my run, but it did brighten up a bit.

We decided to visit an interesting house called A La Ronde near Exmouth, a quirky sixteen sided house, which we first visited a few years ago.  Our journey there was through greyness and rain, which didn’t bode well.  There was some interior work being undertaken at the house in the shell gallery, which meant the central octagon room was also out of bounds.  The house is full of collections – including a huge shell collection.  It’s a fascinating place to visit.  We managed to have our picnic in the garden, then wandered around the grounds.

We then drove into Exmouth, parked  up and had a lovely walk around the coast, and the day started to brighten up again.   We walked by boats, traditional houses, the old harbour which has been regenerated with rather nice fancy new flats, and then ended up at the beach.  Our parking time was limited, so TT thought he would take us on a shortcut back to the car -  he in fact took us round in circles!  Luckily we still got back before our ticket ran out.

Our next stop was Budleigh Salterton, which we had visited previously, for an early evening walk along the pebble beach to the mouth of the River Otter.

We drove home via Waitrose where we picked up some treats for tea – everything from Waitrose is a treat in my book!  I finished reading The Marriage Portrait and later there was more Mapp and Lucia.
