Life's Little Moments

Sparkly

Hummingbirds of all species look as if they've been dipped in sequins and the ruby-throats are certainly no exception.  Even though they are molting, the adult males are still eye-catching with their vibrant red gorgets.  At times, these feathers will appear black and then, with just the tiniest tilt of feather they burst into brilliant sparkly color.  This is the time of year when they males start leaving to head south, most into Central America.  And knowing this, I feel compelled to take advantage of every opportunity to photograph them.

Hubs and I are celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary today.  I came downstairs this morning to find a dozen perfect roses!  We enjoyed breakfast together and then later we went to a newish vegan place for yummy sandwiches for lunch. We took Hubs' classic Camaro to lunch and stopped it at an antique car show on the way home.  Fun to see all the old classic cars. Tonight we will grill a couple of filet mignons (a splurge).  A low key day, but its just what we wanted.

I splurged and got two pieces of cheesecake for desert tonight so I will skip the dark today.
