Male Common Darter

A couple of blippers have commented on their hope to see some late dragonflies. 

I don't think they're late; they're bang on time for this odd and chaotic season. At last summer is having a week on instead of the year off... 

I shot this fellow as he came in between the still dewy bushes in the back garden... 

ok, slightly too slow to get perfect wings but for an early morning shot I'm happy enough.
