Goldfinch

The threatened rain still has not disturbed the dry gardens nor blipped into the fish pond... instead, the sky is heavy and grey and implacably dry. The dribble of rain we had the other day produced new green grass, but that's now beginning to fade.

Rain is still threatened, but it feels not so much a threat as an unfulfilled promise.

It would appear the minority of the electorate have voted for the continuity candidate, and thick Lizzy will replace bloody stupid Johnson as the new Prime Minster next week. Since both candidates were in one form or another promising to help the rich, the employed and those on benefits it rather looks like we're going to be the sacrifice - or maybe our savings will be - as we're none of the above.

Anyhoo, here's a goldfinch ripping into the last of the seeds out on the river bank. I had plenty of opportunity to get lots of flying seed debris, but somehow the camera decided it wasn't worthy... timing is everything.
