Living my dream

The staging in the tunnel is getting quite full. Seed trays are overflowing the top layer onto the lower shelf already.

Beetroot. Silverbeet. Peas. Sweetpeas. Sunflowers. Cabbages. Broccoli. Cauliflowers. Kale. Kohl Rabi. Swedes. Parsley.

The brassica seedlings - closest to the camera - are going to be ready to plant out into their bed in a week or so, which is good as they will release space for the tomato and pepper seedlings yet to be moved out there.

It has been a hectic garden day, doing a heap of small jobs. The highlight was sowing carrots in the outdoor bed, which always feels like a mark of progress in spring.

Friends appeared for a cuppa mid-afternoon and didn’t linger, which was excellent because I was on a roll…

I have eaten wonderful homegrown homemade food today: parsnip and peanut butter soup, sourdough and tomato relish, leek and cheese pasta, steamed broccoli, stewed spiced blackboy peaches. I am replete.
