THE OUTLINE

To English lovers of hills and mountains this must be the most famous and best loved silhouette in the country.
Few of them will need to be told that is the Langdale Pikes.

Mrs. K. and I climbed up thereon our honeyoon in 1962 and 61 years later it still gives me a thrill to see it. It is still just possible that if I took all day I might be able to get up there but I would need a helicoptor to get down and that would be too expensive.
