Quod oculus meus videt

Meg

First opportunity to try out the new camera and its focusing systems.  I'd had visits near the stables where L rides and popped in to see our favourite horse, Meg.  She's now well over 30 years old but has a contented life in her paddock.  She's always quick to come and see you, especially if you have some treats in your pocket.  When I do the poo picking she is a constant companion as I wheel the barrow around the paddock.

The camera has subject detection settings for people, animals, vehicles and aeroplanes.  As she walked towards me the focusing box was moving from her body, to head and then eyes as it honed in on good focus.  It's quite incredible where we've got to with these systems.  Reading various articles they suggest that Nikon have used some form of artificial intelligence called machine learning for this subject detection.  With this Nikon's engineers have built a model for AF detection from lots of sample data, to 'train' the system.

Whatever, it works!
