Lillies in a tree

I passed this way on a walk with the spaniel back in April. At that time the vase was filled with tulips. Today it has white lillies. I still don't know what the story is here but its clearly important to someone. It started to rain heavily on the early morning walk and hasn't stopped all day. Those lillies won't last long.
