First full day in Berlin

We slept like logs last night after our day of travelling yesterday so were ready to make a full day of it.  After breakfast in the hotel we walked down to Museum Island where we visited the Neues Museum and the Pergamon Museum.  We also had a timed entry to the Pergamon Panorama museum that clearly stated it was valid with any Museum Island pass, which we had as part of our 'Berlin Card' but the security guard was having none of it so we didn't go in.  Probably just as well, as by that time we were ready to do something different.

Instead, we walked up to the Brandenburg Gate which was very busy both with the aftermath of a student demonstration and the preparations for the Berlin Marathon at the weekend.  A lovely sunny and hot day; we're now back at the hotel to freshen up before going out this evening.
