As conservation communications go, this one is quite evocative, on the wall of our office. As we beaver away it’s always helpful to remain connected to the driving force of our work.

‘Help to protect what is ours’, the caption reads. Orphaned elephants are a pitiful sight to see in the wild. The rampant poaching for ivory that has massacred hundreds of thousands of elephants in Africa in various waves, has mercifully slowed down drastically in recent years because of changes in international demand, notably China’s closure of domestic ivory markets. The underground world of ivory trade remains hideously murky so there are always rumours, seizures and threats of another poaching surge. Protection efforts have to remain constant to be prepared for any eventuality.
