Food Festival

A reasonable day today, weather-wise, after a chilly night - the temperature dropped to 3.5 degrees!

Argyll's first Food Festival was held in the Corran Halls - today and tomorrow. Many specialist foods were available, artisan and organic and therefore rather expensive!

There were quite a number of stands selling food from all over, particularly from the islands - gin from Jura, coffee and cheese from Mull, various teas and infusions from Tiree, lots of different chocolates from Islay and baking from Skye, though the last time I heard that wasn't in Argyll!

Various other local bakeries, vegetables, seafood and meat - quite a range and we were tempted to try and even  to buy a few things! There were also free workshops - foraging, brewing, cookery and others. Quite a good display and no doubt if this becomes an annual event then more suppliers will become involved.

Spent some time this afternoon trying to clear up all the old timber which has been piled up since I had part of the decking replaced. I'm hoping that I can persuade someone locally to take it all away for firewood, or I'll have to pay someone to take it to the dump!
