Absolute rubbish

At about 2am last night our water went off. The water in this building is pumped and we need phase 3 electricity to run the pumps (and power the lifts, but that's obviously less of an immediate concern). At 10pm tonight, we still have not got electricity back to run the pumps, despite the intermittent presence through the day of pump engineers, electricians sent by the factors, and SP Energy networks, to try and restore the power. According to the local busybody very helpful man who lives in the penthouse in our core, there is a generator in place but SP Energy networks cannot attach that to our power supply without an electrician sent by the factors. Meanwhile, there are plans in place to run a phase 3 supply into our development which has been laid for the new build opposite. And longer term plans to find where the fault occurred in our phase 3 supply, and repair that (which requires digging up the road, which has already occurred and more will have to be done). But....still no water.

Well, all this rearranged our plans (or perhaps better our assumptions about how a Saturday should be spent). First, there were odd noises during the night which woke me up and meant I didn't get much sleep. I still cannot account for some of the noises I heard. Second, there has obviously been no opportunity for a shower, so no option to do a peloton ride. And third, we decided to spend a fair bit of the day away from the flat. So apart from some normal shopping down in Leith this morning (which included a trip to Tiso where I bought a sleeveless shorty wetsuit), we also headed up into town, so that Mr A could buy a new coat, I got some stuff from Seasalt, and we had a nice lunch. Then, when we got back to the area, we went round to Campervan for some further refreshments.... This evening, we've tried to keep our mind off this car crash of nonsense (they should have installed a generator first thing this morning...) by watching the Ireland v South Africa rugby match. And what a series of collisions that was.

And still no water, but we've been promised that the team of workers will not leave until it is restored. That's more than 100 units without water supply because we depend upon phase 3 electricity supply to deliver it. All a bit rubbish, to be perfectly honest, that this should be running on 20 hours later. Obviously, if we had known this would be the case, we would have gone to Tain this morning....

Edit: water back on at 11.30pm!
