Only ever in pubs

I am getting used to working from Ryde now. It’s nice looking out at a view of a field and the associated greenery and knowing that the seas is only three minutes down the road makes life much more relaxing.

After work we decided that we would walk up the The Star again. It’s become our local here and we have visited on almost every trip. It was nice to be able to sit and have a drink in a pub that’s not overly loud. The landlord’s playlist verges on the acoustic and he’s curated a You Tube playlist that allows for one of the television screens to be showing the performances.  And, generally, the music he’s chosen is accompanied by the artist’s performance on some TV show rather than a music video because it’s a nice eclectic mix of music and styles many versions of high come from programmes like The Old Grey Whistle Test or that style of archive.  At one point, The Look’s ‘I Am The Beat’ came on while I was ordering drinks and snacks at the bar and I couldn’t resist talking about how the 7-inch version of that record never ends and continually loops with the band chanting “beat”. At least, my version did.
