Golf

We had a lovely dinner last night at an Italian Restaurant in Pimlico, and it was good to see all the boys and Meriel. Both Luke and Adam are working very hard at the moment, Luke has a long day starting work at 7am, but gets up at 5am to get to gym before work - he only finishes at about 7pm if he is lucky, and then still comes home and studies. Adam is very busy trying to finish off his research for his PhD, write up his paper, and he has also been asked to be a supervisor to a Masters student, so he is in the lab every day of the week. So I don't have much sympathy for the junior doctors who complain about the hours they work!

Today Gavin took Xena on a 7km run first thing this morning and then later we went to play 9 holes of golf. I am loving golf at the moment, and wish we could play 18 holes but I don't like to leave Xena stuck inside at home for too long (Tommy had gone out today so was not at home to let Xena out). I played better today than last week, my strongest shot is definitely my chipping - here I am putting a shot from where the ball had landed from a chip shot onto the green. Gavin took this while I was concentrating on my putt!

We were a two ball behind a group in front of us of two men and three children. They were extremely slow and the children were mucking about on the course and not moving on as they should have. We did not say anything but then the caddy master drove over to us in his golf buggy and said he had told them off as they were not raking bunkers, they were dragging carts over the green and were playing with no consideration for the players behind them (us!) He said he is all for kids learning to play golf but their are rules and a standard of etiquette that has to be adhered to, and the two adults were letting the kids do what they want. He also told them to wait and let us pass through which we did. I was impressed that the caddy master drives around checking on the players to ensure there are no unnecessary hold ups.

We had originally planned to go to Norfolk this weekend but tonight we have been invited to a friend's 60th birthday party, so we decided to go to the party and cancelled our Norfolk plans. Not many of our friends have 60th birthday parties, by the time you get to 60 you usually want it to slide by unnoticed!
