Speckled Wood

The whole wood was speckled, the track dappled with small patches of sunlight between the shadows of leaves and trunks, and most of it was too dimly lit for hand held photos. Fortunately the butterfly appeared as I returned to the gate, and settled in one of the sunlit patches on the nettles. It was as flighty as Speckled Woods always seem to be, flitting to a different leaf every time I adjusted my position, but I was pleased I had accidentally gone out with the zoom lens still on the camera - this is my first half decent photo of this species.
