CONKERING BREAST CANCER AND BCAM 2023 DAY 7

Hello Lovely Blippers,

We were really excited when we heard that Mr. & Mrs. HCB were going over to the little dell near their house to find some conkers so we asked very politely if we could go with them and they said we could!

They have to cross a busy road, so we all had to be very careful, but several cars stopped for us so we waved to everyone - we’re not quite sure what they made of a long line of soft toys walking across the road, but you know Mr. & Mrs. HCB - once they have a plan in mind, nothing stops them!

We arrived at the little dell, where there are lots of Horse Chestnut or Conker trees and found lots and lots of conkers, some still in their shells and some on the ground, as you can probably see and also lots of little conker trees growing.  One conker even dropped off the tree and there are lots of them around the dell - and hit Mr. HCB on the head - it was quite funny, but he said it was a good job he was wearing his Tilley hat, because even with that, he said it hurt his head.  Of course, when they fall off, the conkers are still in their spiky cases, so no wonder it hurt.  It might have made Admirer smile, but Mr. HCB wasn’t smiling, we can tell you.

You might be interested to know - and Mr. HCB was excited to tell Mrs. HCB - that the World Conker Championships are taking place at Southwick, near Oundle in Northamptonshire.  Apparently, the current men’s world champion is a Canadian, Randy Topolnitsky, who lives in Calgary, Canada.  He was on holiday visiting friends when they mentioned they were taking part in the championships so he joined in and won!  I’m not sure that the English conkerers would have been happy about that, but as they say, “All’s fair in love and war” and obviously, even in a game of conkers!  Now that would have made Admirer giggle.

Now to the best part - thank you to all of you who have been clicking regularly in the last few days - please continue to click on this LINK so that those who cannot afford to pay for a mammogram can have a free one - and hopefully one day, Breast Cancer will be well and truly “conkered”!

With love to you all from
The Silly Saturday Gang xxx

P.S.  There is an extra photograph today of the Cream Tea Mr. & Mrs. HCB had yesterday - and there is some controversy about whether the jam or cream should go on the scone first.  Mr. & Mrs. HCB prefer jam first and then a BIG dollop of cream and you can see Mrs. HCB getting her teeth into her final half - she prefers cream on the top!

P.P.S.  This would definitely make Admirer LAUGH OUT LOUD - the cream tea cost Mr. & Mrs. HCB £89.54 - that was how much they spent at Waitrose altogether - a very expensive cream tea, we think!
