Sgwarnog: In the Field

Tip-toe

I’d not noticed this view before as it involves standing on tip-toe to peer over a wall, but it nicely ties together aspects of this journal.

The hill in the middle is Baildon Moor, five miles distant from Bradford Forster Square station in the foreground, the two end points of my journey into town. And on the left,  misleadingly telescoped, a corner of Bradford City’s stadium at Valley Parade, a fifteen minute walk back out along Manningham Lane.

City’s slow start to the season had resulted in the sacking of  manager Mark Hughes during the week. Kevin McDonald has taken over as interim player-manager while a new appointment is made. Swindon Town were the day’s visitors.

The main change for City was an abandonment of the policy of playing out from the back which had so often attracted the ire of the crowd.  A single goal from academy graduate Bobby Pointon, was enough to secure a valuable victory.
