Dress for breakfast (purple compulsory)

Couch blips became kitchen blips today. The great thing about having a stable door is that you can open the top half and take in the view. Or in today's case, lean your lens (and teleconverter) on.

These visitors popped in for breakfast in our very dewy garden this morning. We have a regular resident pukeko who hangs around with our chickens, who we have nicknamed 'Puck', but I'm inclined to think that he's invited a few of his friends along too.

Pukeko are quite a cheeky and inquisitive bird that are mainly found in wetland areas. With Lake Ellesmere being at the bottom of our valley, there's a decent enough population nearby, but the birds have only recently made their way this far up the valley. Like our rabbits, they're not so good for the veggie garden, but they are a pretty addition to our expanding collection of fauna.
