Slovenia - day 1

I was up early to shower etc before the taxi pickup at 6.30am. I was at the airport within 30 minutes and had time for a leisurely breakfast in the BA lounge.

Although we are based in Lesce, near Lake Bled, in Slovenia, we were being picked up at Venice airport - not sure why we were not flying to Ljubljana in Slovenia. There were two of us from the group on this flight, some others had enjoyed the weekend in Venice before meeting at the airport. It was about a 3 hour drive from Venice to Lesce, and we stopped on the way to get some lunch from a roadside cafe.

We eventually got to our accommodation in Lesce, Török Pension, which is pretty basic but clean and functional. We had an hour to unpack and settle in before heading out to photograph the sunset.

We drove up the winding mountain road to a location where we overlooked this pretty church which is the church of St. Primus and Felicianus (better known as the Church of St Primoz) at Jamnik. We had a bit of pink in the clouds but there was no colourful sunset as we had hoped for. We waited for the church to be illuminated as it got dark - see extra - before packing up and heading down the mountain road to Bled, where we had supper in a very good Italian style restaurant.

It is now late and I must get to bed as we are meeting at 5.55am tomorrow morning to go photograph the sunrise over Lake Bled - fingers crossed there will be a colourful sunrise. It has been a long day and I have not had much time to myself as is always the way on these photography workshops, but so far I am enjoying Slovenia very much.
