Life's Little Moments

Classic

The classic nuthatch pose, facing down.  White breasted nuthatches are common garden birds although they tend to stay away from the feeders when they are raising their young.  This is a female, barely distinguishable from the male by her slightly paler gray cap.  Very friendly little birds and always welcome in the garden.

It's been wet and chilly today, a good day to stay inside.  I had a nice long FT chat with my parents this morning and have made plans to visit them in November.  Then, after lunch, bestie Peg and I had a long chat.  Hubs has been working on a bunch of old family photos trying to get them scanned and housed somewhere online.  Jax has been napping and avoiding going outside other than for the absolute necessities.  He hates the rain.

I'm making a chili with sweet potatoes and beef tonight, a hearty dish for a cold day.  It's an old favorite recipe that I've not made for several years so looking forward to it.

Dark with nuts today.
