Quod oculus meus videt

Climbing Tarn Crag

One of the opportunities being with friends in the Lakes is the option to split up and get up the fells for a good walk.  N is ticking off Wainwrights so we headed up to Easdale Tarn and beyond to Tarn Crag which offers some great views over the valley.

Rain was forecast and as predicted it started when we were just a few minutes from the summit.  It made the decision to come back down rather than remain high, but it also put us in this position as the passing shower receded and sunshine caught the foreground and it’s bracken.

Only from a camera phone, I just haven’t had time to process camera images.

We returned by lunchtime, met up with the ladies and then headed over to a little Langdale as N and H had never seen Slaters Bridge or Cathedral Quarry. Although I have shots of both the highlight was this little robin [see extra) who literally got under our feet on the path down to the bridge.  I am literally only a few inches away as I took the shot.  Who needs telephoto lenses?

In the evening J & D joined us at the hotel for a meal and a catch up.  I first met N & H on one of J’s American workshops and funnily enough we’ve only ever met on holidays, the last time in Tuscany in 2019. We had a fab time and planned another walk tomorrow to tick off more Wainwrights for N and J’s Wainwright Challenge.
