Wound up in Wexford

Cycad

The forecast for a low of just 1°C last night stimulated us to bring in the cycad.  Still looking a bit sorry for itself, but hoping that spring will see a new lease of life.

Today has been a day for catching up with little jobs.  W mended my bedside light, and sorted out the handle on the bottom cupboard of the cocktail cabinet.  I sorted out two standing orders - setting them up from the Irish account so I could stop them on my UK account.  Nearly there now - just a couple of items to sort out.

We were cold enough this morning to be forced into turning on the heating.  After our problems when we first moved in, we were relieved to find it's working, though I think the progammable timer is faulty - probably the non-replaceable inbuilt battery for cover during power cuts, which is expected "to last the lifetime of the timer", but probably hasn't.  We're having the meter replaced in a couple of days - if we lose all the stuff I programmed in today, we'll know there's a problem.

Now we just have to decide on how much/little we want to spend on the electric bill!  How cold can we cope with?

W also made hummus - yummy - and lentil flatbreads.  He had no memory of making these before, but the evidence is on blip.  As a result of the write up on blip, we agreed he should add some flavouring - salt, pepper, coriander, and some garlic in lemon juice left over from making the hummus.  Yet to be tasted.
