Windmill 'De Korenmolen', Laren

'Korenmolen' = 'cornmill'

Built in 1724, so it'll be 300 years old next year.  I'm sure there'll be some kind of celebration.  According to the database site, it sure is a pretty mill, but because of all the natural (e.g. trees and hedges) and man-made structures (fences, houses) around it, it functions with some difficulty.  Bottom line is -- whatever the condition, it can still function.

Lots of clouds but also lots of blue patches, so never mind if the sun played hide-and-seek the whole time, I got my set of shots.

Towards dinnertime, the doorbell -- the representative of a company that installs doors.  We'd met the owner last week, door-to-dooring in the neighbourhood, and the appointment was set for today.  Bottom line -- it looks like we will be having new doors installed.  One condition -- we get an interest-free loan from the government, in line with its policy of helping people insulate their homes more efficiently, thereby saving costs on heating and electricity.  Since our scanner refuses to cooperate with AW's new laptop, and there was no time to try it out with mine, the rep will scan the docs, having been duly signed by us, at his office, then send same to us so that we can apply for the loan.  We need the scanned copies to send to the ministry when we fill in the online forms.  When we get approval, another guy will visit to take the relevant measurements, and we can agree as to when we want the doors and frames installed, which could be next spring.  The factory needs two months, so plenty of time till then.  Actually, we also need new windows and frames for the entire front of the house, but these can wait.

Kitchen duties and laundry, some colouring, some gaming, some reading.  I had a bad tummy this evening, but that's been resolved.  Late tomorrow afternoon, I'm off to Geneva.  Really bad weather was forecast earlier this week, but it looks like Geneva will be dry when I get there, and it would be good if it stayed this way all the way to my flight back home on Thursday.  EasyJ have been nagging me via email to make sure I'm at the airport on time.  It is really unfortunate that my good friend can't make it after all.  And did I ever mention she's a fellow blipper?

Thankful for the prospect of getting new doors.  I just didn't expect to order them so soon.  They'd better be worth their weight in gold as they'll cost a lot.  Don't know whether to laugh or cry.
